NYCHOS RETURN AUSTRALIA RECAP

Nychos has exhibited in galleries worldwide, transporting all the energy and technique of his walls to paintings and drawings. His works have been presented in several solo exhibitions in galleries such as Jonathan LeVine Gallery in New York, Julian Kolly Gallery in Zurich and Open Space in Paris to name a few. In Australia, Nychos will hold the solo exhibition MONOCHROME ORGANISM at Juddy Roller Gallery (222A-226 Johnston St, Fitzroy VIC 3065). The exhibition, with opening on March 10th at 6 p.m., will display works on paper that provide the public with a glimpse into the artist’s creative process. The exhibition runs until March 24th, 2017.

From March 8th to 12th, the residents and visitors of Melbourne will have the unique opportunity to see Nychos’ impressive three-meter tall sculpture, The Dissection of Sigmund Freud, part of the Vienna Therapy project. Homage to the father of psychoanalysis, the artwork was first unveiled at New York’s Flatiron Plaza during the summer of 2016 and will now be at display at Federation Square, Melbourne. The Vienna Therapy project is hosted by the Vienna Tourist Board and aims at presenting and celebrating the culture of Sigmund Freud’s hometown of Vienna internationally. Admission is free.

For those looking to have closer contact with the artist and his spray techniques, Nychos will be holding two workshops in collaboration with Work-Shop. On 25th of February, Sydney enthusiasts will be able to participate in a workshop where Nychos will teach spray can techniques, how to paint a translucency, and give insight in his coloring concepts. On March 11th it will be Melbourne’s turn to receive Nychos’ workshop session, in which the artist will also give emphasis to 3D sculpturing. For those which cannot attend the workshops, a screening of Nychos’ documentary, the “Deepest Depths of the Burrow” will be shown in the evening in both locations. Certainly, during his stay in Australia, the artist, who was raised in a traditional Austrian hunting family, plans on creating original wall art in the cities of Melbourne and Sydney depicting his traditional styles: dissection, cross section and translucency.
