Creation through collaboration

Portraits and aspects of the human face are a major part of the visual language used by German artist Falk Lehmann (aka AKUT). For nearly 10 years, the artist, photographer, MACLAIM crew member, and former half of HERAKUT has been steadily working on a portrait concept where he projects an artist’s artwork, onto a photographic portrait image of their face. His protagonists are all friends, colleagues, and creative role models from around the world. From December 11th, 2021 till February 25th, 2022, the collaborative exhibition will premier at the METROPOLINK’s Commissary in the Patrick-Henry-Village in Heidelberg Germany. For the first time, over 70 previously unseen photographs will be shown.

10 years in the making

In the true essence of graffiti and street art culture, the exhibition features a unique collaborative canvas by AKUT, KKADE, MAD C, STOHEAD, and JULIA BENZ, which takes the INSIGHT idea to a new level. Complimenting the exhibition, the completion of the first large-scale collaborative mural by AKUT and KKADE with an epic assortment of Montana GOLD colors. The mural closes the circle between wall-based artworks, which are inspired by photographic artworks, that are strongly connected to graffiti and street art. Both, graffiti and street art, which normally celebrate their existence on the vertical plains of walls located in the public space. For those unable to make it in person, we hope you enjoy the INSIGHT teaser film and some “making of” imagery here

What started on the wall, returns to the wall

Each of the creative people that AKUT photographed for the INSIGHT project was left to respond to the question, “How did you become unique”? The responses are artistically staged as part of the INSIGHT exhibition which opens its doors at 21:00 on Saturday the 11th of December.

The collaboration exhibition will be on view from December 11th, 2021 to February25th, 2022 in Metropolink’s Commissary in the Patrick-Henry-Village in Heidelberg.
