Back to it’s roots

Back in the days between 1988 and 1995, MTV aired the first hip hop based program “YO! MTV RAPS“. The show went on to capture the classic music video program format, but in an authentic hip hop, street style flavor. Presented by Dr. Dré and Ed Luver during the week and Fab 5 Freddy on the weekend, the show targetted a generation of hip hop loving audience. The timing of the concept was impeccable as hip hop culture itself was experiencing a generational change and and growth all over the globe. The healthy mix of age and interest meant hiphop and rap music was diversifying and going down new paths, in new languages, in many countries.

Germany was well and truely in for the ride as YO! MTV RAPS became a staple diet for many youths and young adults. Especially for the graffiti community that had been immersed in hip hop culture since it’s arrival in Europe. And now it’s back! Or at least in German anyway. Back to it’s roots celebrating all things hip hop and graffiti.

With a stash of Montana GOLD and Montana BLACK at the ready, the show has a constantly changing set with you got it… GRAFFITI!
