Double trouble in the Austrian capital

With nine feature artists under their belt, it was time for the Montana Store Vienna to celebrate the collaboration with their tenth feature artist, INTERJAIL. On April 19th 2019, the Montana Store Vienna not only opened their doors with the racks full of Montana GOLD, Montana BLACK and Montana WHITE cans. They also had new feature artworks in their exhibition space. Complimented by a limited edition fine art print series of 25 pieces called “Till death do us part”, the space was taken over by INTERJAIL’s unique mixed bag of techniques. INTERJAIL flexed his creative abilities with fat cap sprays, lanced spray cans, hand painted geometry and abstract line work.

“Till death do us part”

With his professional feet firmly planted in the tattoo industry, INTERJAIL is not your average artist. A substantial pool of ideas flows through his mental sketch book combining elements of the street, symbolism, comics and traditional skin based artwork. But it didn’t end there. The usual drinks and beats helped punters celebrate the writing on the wall. But for those lucky enough, a limited edition artist t-shirt was also on offer featuring some of the main elements used in the “Till death do us part” print. The final glue holding the whole concept together, INTERJAIL showed that it is possible to cross many artistic boundaries while holding them all together in one exhibition. Take a look here at what you missed.

InterJail

The Montana Store Vienna feature artist program has never disappointed. With world classed artist creating artwork, prints and garments for each period. For the nineth edition, the MSV team called on a Hamburg based artist that was no stranger to their hood. In March 2019, German artist UPTOWN DANNY of the JBCB crew was invited back to the Austrian hot spot to show them how he does it. “But why not a stranger to the hood” you ask? From July 2016 till October 2017, UPTOWN DANNY participated in a residency at Vienna Electric Tattoo. This familiar face was back to where he once was, in the company of good friends and happy onlookers.

“Vienna Calling”

Familiarities as side, UPTOWN DANNY was not their to play around. He had business to take care of and he didn’t let anyone down. His bold “Vienna Calling” artwork braced the walls of the exhibition space with popping color and clever iconography. With a background of racks full of Montana BLACK, Montana GOLD and Montana WHITE cans, the artwork seemed to fit like a glove. As the European winter was heading on it’s way out, DANNY brought some humor and warmth to the space with his vibrant references to tattooing, graffiti and a homage to Vienna.

A limited edition series of 25 fine art prints rounded everything off for those 25 lucky people who were fast enough to grab one. A big thank you to all those that came out to join the fun and “Prost” till next time. For those that missed it, take a look here at the opening night
