During the past few days artist-duo SOBEKCIS from Belgrad have been painting a great mural in Mannheim as a part of the Stadt.Wand.Kunst Project. As a participating member of the project MONTANA-CANS was at the scene… The university city Mannheim, with its grid-layout, is not one of the largest cities in Germany, but over 300.000 multi-cultural inhabitants make the place very colorful and creative. Inventions like the bicycle by Karl Drais have their origin here – in 1880 the first automobile invented by Carl Benz also drove on the streets of Mannheim. In 2014 Mannheim received the title of “City of Music” by the Creative Cities Network / the UNESCO and it has been developing its cultural aspects continuesly. The Stadt.Wand.Kunst initiative was started by the cultural art center Alte Feuerwache in cooperation with the municipal administration as well as Montana-Cans. This year the artist duo SOBEKCIS were the first to paint a wall next to a higly frequented main road in the city centre. Here some impressions we caught for you…
