The German artist HOMBRE from the humble town of Mannheim is used to the heat. Or at least symbolically. For many years he has been painting hot, illustrative, figure based artworks all over Europe. Recently for the BALADK FESTIVAL in Amman, Jordan, he got a taste of the literal heat as well. The project was also a cultural exchange with the Mannheim mural project, Stadt Wand Kunst (SWK). HOMBRE who has already featured at the SWK event in Germany was invited to attend the BALADK Festival to create a mural which also served as this years opening mural for SWK.

Supported by Montana-Cans, the bustling city of Amman played host to the event where the sun had no mercy and the dust was as common as rain in Europe. HOMBRE created a massive female portrait that now looks confidently over the city.

HOMBRE IN AMMAN FOR BALADK FESTIVALS

Take a look for yourself here:

HOMBRE’s choice of color was a great example of an artist understanding their surroundings and creating art in response to it. With an earthy palette of Montana GOLD and Montana BLACK colors, the artwork stands out as much as it blends in to its environment.
